Follow.
Follow is the first stage of the Lead Manage Follow philosophy. You earn the right to lead only after you learn to follow. It is not submission. It is the deliberate practice of listening, executing and absorbing the standard before you try to set one.
Why follow first. Every craft has a syllabus. Skipping it produces confident amateurs. Following is how you find out what good actually looks like, in the room, under load.
What it requires. Show up early. Do the work nobody photographs. Take the note. Ask the question after the meeting, not during it. Make your boss's job easier by Friday.
What it builds. Pattern recognition. Credibility. A nervous system that does not flinch when the room turns. You cannot manufacture this. You earn it in reps.
Niklas Lindahl followed as a dishwasher, a warehouse worker and a soldier before he ever managed. The order is not negotiable.
